About Us

"Chairs for Charity" is a gala ball and charity auction held in Melbourne. The 2007 event was held on Saturday 13th October 2007 at The Atrium at Flemington Racecourse: home of the Melbourne Cup.

The basic concept behind "Chairs for Charity" is that prominent Australian artists and designers produce chairs that reflect the personalities of well known celebrities. This may be by including a portrait of the celebrity on the chair, or alternatively designing or decorating the chair based on the persona or profession of the celebrity. To create greater appeal for potential bidders we have arranged for some part of the chair to be autographed by the celebrity him/her self.

These one of a kind chairs are auctioned at the Chairs for Charity Gala Ball. Our aim with each event is to raise over $100,000 for our beneficiaries and to host a night to remember with fantastic food, great wine and first class entertainment.

This event is unique, fun and best of all it is supporting very worthy causes. All proceeds from the charity auctions have been shared between Make-A-Wish Australia, the Australian Drug Foundation and the National Breast Cancer Foundation.

Our objective is to establish a fundraising event that brings together members of the wider community for the purpose of strengthening relationships, giving to those in our community in need and raising much needed funds for three fantastic Australian charities. These three beneficiaries provide support and hope for sadly a growing number of our population. It would be a very fortunate person who has not had a friend, relative, or loved one touched by the issues that our beneficiaries are addressing and we take great pride in being able to help them achieve these goals.
